Jason Arday, Cambridge professor accused of plagiarism, is found unresponsive in London

Jason Arday became the youngest Black professor ever appointed at the University of Cambridge in 2023. He was Professor of Sociology of Education. 

In recent weeks he had been under intense scrutiny over allegations of plagiarism in his PhD thesis and other academic work, along with questions about some claims concerning his achievements. He resigned from Cambridge on 5 August 2026. 

Friday, 14 August 2026, he was found unresponsive at an address in Battersea, south London, and pronounced dead.
